Taking care of my teen skin
Hellos bebe,
This is Coco. There are teens preteens all around the world buying loads of skincare products without knowing much about them. And some are simply late bloomers. This is my honest advice and experience I want to share here.
1. CTM is essential regardless of skin type.
I know it's so basic but many people still think moisturizing isn't for oily skin. It is. Reason? When you wash your face, u strip your skin of oil and dirt along with natural moisture. Aloe gel etc, are natural humectants. They lock in hydration in your skin.
2. Read labels when searching for humectants on moisturizers.
Not all humectants work for all skin types. For a dry skin aloecucumber gel won't work as it is not as creamy as products specially formulated for dry skin. Same the other way round.
3. Exfoliate ! But don't overdo it.
This one is pretty self explanatory. When you exfoliate you don't just remove a dead cell layer, you also dry out your face and cleanse your pores. Hence, overdoing it will only feel like rubbing your face with a sandpaper.
4. Keep your skin cool.
When you are out, enjoy the sun as you may but do not overdo it. Keeping your skin cool helps to minimize enlarged pores. Pores catch dirt and particles. But when you help minimize pore size your skin stays clean. A cool skin tends to breakout less often.
5. Apply sunblock 10 - 15 min before you actually go out.
Normally you'd apply your sunblock and simply step out. But applying about 10 min before helps it to sit on your skin and add a protective layer over it.
6. Sensitive teen skin, baby products are the way to go.
At teenage the skin is tender and we go on experimenting different products . The best bet is to use baby products like a baby cream, it's not ass thick or creamy or oily because it's formulated for baby skin which needs to breathe. So, it's good enough for oily skin.
7. It's all about loving yourself.
This last one is basically an advice. Don't take it as a regimen. Take it as a time to love your skin, take care of it. No rules are cut out square in a box. Take things to suit according to your need. Modify them and see what works best for your skin, we don't have to change it only enhance it to make it the best beautiful self that it is.
